Patterns of nature....
This recognisable recycled brooch is the result of inspiration
looking at klimt's art work combined with my style of jewellery. I have
drawn the design freehand onto an old serving spoon salvaged from a charity
shop in Sheffield.
The sketch is followed precisely with a fine jewellers
blade, cutting away unwanted sections of the 'bowl' of the spoon. I then
carefully smooth and focus the shape with files and polish. A simple locking
brooch fitting is secured to the back. The end result (above) is worth
the time involved.
A previously undesirable piece of cutlery destined
to be 'dumped' somewhere, transformed into a lovely, wearable piece of
ethically sound jewelry. Why not?
